On June 21, 2018, Lisbon was distinguished with the European Green Capital 2020 award. This distinction results from the evaluation of international experts who analyze sustainability in the city.
On 11 January, Lisbon European Green Capital 2020 was opened, attended by the Executive Vice President of the European Commission for the European Ecological Pact and the European Commissioner for the Environment.
